Digital Stories
I think that digital stories are very valuable
in academia. They are an affective way
to catch people’s attention’s with important stories of information. Just recently, I watch a digital story in my
psychology class that was to help prevent the pollution in the Pacific
Ocean. I think because of the rise of
technology in this century, digital stories are far more productive than plain
print in reaching students. Outside of
academia, I still think they are very important and valuable. Many commercials use this approach. For example, The ASPCA commercials use
digital stories in order to evoke extreme pathos to its viewers. Because of technology around the world, I think
digital stories are becoming more and more valuable because people are willing
to listen to them. For me, because I am going to be a teacher, it is especially important because teachers can use them as a way of lessons in order to reach their students more affectively. Overall, digital stories should be and are being used in both academia as well as outside it.

I definitely agree with the point that digital stories are more effective than plain print. Students have always grown up with technology, and it's always more interesting to to see images while a person is talking rather than just reading what they wrote. I also agree with the fact that digital stories have an emotional purpose as well. The stories can be useful in commercials such as ASPCA, but they can also be useful for other reasons such as advertising products or for sentimental purposes like for funerals or something.
ReplyDeleteI like the approach that you took with this. Instead of looking at which usuage is better, you chose to highlight the positives of both. I do agree that stories are extremely effective in this society because we are so technologically based. I feel that they really speak to me and that if they were used in the classroom more often, students could get a deeper understanding and have emotions involved in what they are learning. Nice work!
